BUNKERED UPDATE #1

BUNKERED DEVELOPMENT UPDATE #1

Development on BUNKERED is continuing to move forward as we build out the foundation for the competitive paintball experience we want the game to become.

What started as a basic multiplayer concept is steadily turning into a more complete 5v5 paintball game, with much of our recent work focused on match flow, movement, competitive mechanics, and improving the overall presentation.

Building the Core 5v5 Experience

The main focus of BUNKERED remains competitive 5v5 speedball-style matches.

We’ve been working on the systems that control how rounds actually play, including:

  • Team-based 5v5 multiplayer

  • Player elimination and scoring

  • Five-minute match timers

  • Round-reset systems

  • Team balancing

  • End-of-round conditions

A team can secure the round by eliminating the opposing team and completing the objective, while teams also have the option to throw the towel when a round is clearly over.

Surviving players can also finish the round by reaching and pressing the opposing team’s buzzer, bringing an important part of competitive paintball into the game.

Movement Is Becoming a Major Part of BUNKERED

Paintball is about far more than simply aiming and shooting, so movement has become one of our biggest development priorities.

We’ve been building movement mechanics designed to make players feel more mobile and give them additional ways to fight for lanes and positions.

Current systems include:

  • Diving

  • Sliding

  • Leaning left and right

  • Lane peeking

  • Improved player movement

  • Adjustable controls and keybind development

The goal is to make movement an actual part of the skill ceiling rather than something players barely think about.

Good positioning, timing, communication, and movement should matter just as much as accuracy.

Improving the Visual Direction

We’ve also started a larger visual overhaul for BUNKERED.

Our goal is to create a clean, modern presentation while maintaining a visual style that accurately represents the game itself.

That includes continued work on:

  • Arenas and field layouts

  • Inflatable bunker design

  • Lighting

  • Environmental detail

  • Player models

  • Paint effects

  • UI and match presentation

The visual side of BUNKERED is still evolving, and what you see during development should not be considered the final appearance of the game.

We would rather continue improving the style as development progresses than pretend an early build is already a finished product.

Multiplayer Progress

A large amount of work is happening behind the scenes as well.

We’ve been building and testing the networking foundation responsible for syncing players, movement, firing, eliminations, teams, and match information between clients.

Multiplayer development tends to involve an impressive amount of convincing multiple computers to agree about what just happened, but the foundation is becoming stronger with each build.

What Comes Next

Our next development priorities include continuing to improve:

  • Multiplayer stability

  • Match flow and round logic

  • Player movement

  • Shooting and paintball mechanics

  • Visual quality

  • Maps and field design

  • User interface

  • External testing

  • Integration with the Breakline Client

There is still a lot to build, test, break, rebuild, and inevitably break again before BUNKERED is ready for players.

But the foundation is taking shape.

BUNKERED is being designed around one simple idea: create a competitive paintball game where movement, positioning, teamwork, and mechanical skill all matter.

This is only the beginning.

More BUNKERED development updates are coming as we continue building toward our first larger testing phases.
